Jackie in Guanghan, China
Jackie was in Guanghan, China yesterday, where he presented a considerable donation to the Civil Aviation Institute to help talented students and their teachers who are in need of funds. While there he was given a beautiful woodcarving, which he graciously accepted while he told the thrilled audience of his desire to share his own wealth to help others. "The more I help others, the more joyful I am," he told the students and other members of the crowd. Jackie spoke encouraging words, telling the students to "never give up" and he mentioned his own fight against movie piracy and the dwindling film industry in Hong Kong.
Jackie spoke of his charity work and how he is extending his reach beyond his native Hong Kong to include Mainland China and spoke of his desire to provide educational materials to children who would otherwise have nothing.
Jackie met aviation flying academy Chair Zheng Hsiaoyong at the 2005 Jackie Chan Charity Cup race in Shanghai and the two felt an immediate close connection, which led to the events in Guanghan yesterday.
