News: Jackie at Hong Kong Polytech Design School

Jackie was the guest of honor at the opening ceremony of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University's School of Design Graduation Show 2006 on the afternoon of June 22. Officiating at the ceremony were HK Polytechinic Universtity's President Professor Poon Chung-kwong and the Head of the School of Design, Professor Lorraine Justice. Jackie was given a warm round of applause by the students, faculty, and guests in attendance and spoke briefly about his own relationship with the world of design. He said that he began designing things many years ago when he would find himself needing a prop for one of his movies. He would give his ideas to the art director and often his own designs would make their way into his films. Over the years, his interest in design expanded and he now has his own design studio, The Jackie Chan Design House. Jackie supports and encourages new designers and urges people to support the smaller design labels and those who create unique and meaningful products.

To conclude the ceremony, Jackie participated in a Q & A and then took a tour of the galleries displaying the students' work.
