Jackie in Beijing for New Year Gala

Jackie was in Beijing on December 31, 2007 to help welcome in the New Year of 2008 at a gala event held at Beijing's Millennium Monument. Braving the very chilly Beijing weather, Jackie performed the Olympic song We Are Ready and at the stroke of midnight, he helped ring the giant gong to welcome the new year.

There was abundant entertainment, including performances by pianist Lang Lang and hearing impaired dancer Tai Lihua. Internationally acclaimed director Zhang Yimou joined in the festivities (Zhang Yimou is also directing the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2008 Olympics) as well as and partygoers enjoyed a spectacular fireworks display designed by the world famous American fireworks family, the Gruccis.
