FEBRUARY 28, 2008

Changchun, China

With a heavy heart I announce to the world that my father, Charlie Chan has, on the afternoon of the 26th of February 2008, with a smile on his face, and laying in the arms of those he held dearest, peacefully and graciously departed from us and from the world, to return to my late mother’s side.

Everyone’s parents will die; it has been this way since the beginning of time. I will die as well. Right now I feel pain and I feel sadness, but I also feel proud of the full life my father led. I will always keep close to my heart the way that my father lived. He was the best example of helpfulness, optimism, and openness.

My father’s smile told me that he was the happiest father in the world! As a son, I did all that I could for him, and I have no regrets.

My father’s body will be buried in Canberra, Australia, next to my late mother. My plan is to bring the bodies of both my parents back to China someday, to rest in peace in their homeland.

I am very grateful to my fans and friends from all over the world and to my friends from the media who have shown their concern.

Thank you,

Jackie Chan
