It is Saturday night, 13 May, and I am sitting at a gate of Hong Kong’s airport, waiting for my flight back home to Germany. I simply love Hong Kong and the Outlying Islands with all my heart, so in the past years I was spending all my holiday here and the next is already planned for October. How difficult it is for me each time to say good-bye to Hong Kong, Mui Wo, the Cantonese culture! But this time I have to leave something more behind! Something very special. I was a member of Jackie Chan Friendships Tour! When I was sitting at Hong Kong’s internet cafes from time to time over the past days, it was amazing to read the first fantastic stories of my fellow tour members who already have returned home. They have expressed already what I wanted to say, and I could not find better words! So, first I thought it would not make sense to write the same as they did. It would have turned out to be a simple summary of what is to be found in their reports already or just “Hello, I’m Heidi from Germany and I agree. Finished!” But Jackie encourages more fans to write their stories. The last thing I want to do is to disappoint him, so … oh well…. should I maybe write about the strokes of fate that hit me in my life and how Jackie has given me so much strength when I needed it? He did! But I would like to share my present feelings. So I took my note pad and pencil out of my bag and have started to write…
The two days of the Jackie tour really were wonderful! I was meeting with so many lovely people, Jackie fans from all over the world. Only few of them I had met before, but many more names were already familiar to me. I have been in contact with many fans on the JC Kids Forum. So who dare to call internet an anonymous place? It was fascinating to meet all this Jackie fans in person and to make friends with them, through Jackie! It was also wonderful to see Kath and Ken Lo again! It was only about 7 months ago that I met them for the first time. Ken said “Long time no see”, so he recognized me. Good boy! I love them both and could not imagine a Jackie universe without them. Kath is very humorous and those two days she was like a Big Sister to me! I had also the chance for pics with Willie and Solon. Well, Willie and Solon were very charming and around all the time! At the office I went over to Solon and said “Hello, I’m Heidi from Germany.” He replied, “Hello, I’m Solon from Hong Kong” and laughed. It was funny! And Willie, finally I catched him (Willie knows what I mean.). The pic that was taken of Willie and me unfortunately is blurred.
And… there was the certainty that I would also meet Jackie again! His appearance on stage was wonderful! Not only that he is very professional in anything that he is doing, he also has kept a warm, big heart and is so very casual, natural and down-to-earth! Jackie told us his shoulder is broken and he is going to have an operation soon! Poor Jackie, I hope he was not in pain all the time!
Oh my goodness, they announced there would be kind of lottery. For each continent there was a box and Jackie would pull one name per box. My big wish came true - he did NOT catch my name. I am afraid I would have performed UNintentionally funny. Well, but with the auction I felt more comfortable and Jackie’s suit was meant to become mine! Thank you! I am going to carry it home with my hand baggage, as safe as possible. With no doubt the most wonderful moment was when I finally was allowed to go to Jackie to have the pic of us taken. Jackie, thank you for everything! I love you for everything that you are!
I then remember a dream that I was having in Hong Kong, right after the second day of the tour. Kitty played a role in it. (We have made friends at the tour). In the dream we were walking through a kind of department store, many people around us. We were terribly scared by someone who was following us all the way. It was a real nightmare! What shall we do? I was frightened and tried to find a solution. I thought, as soon as we leave the store, we must try to fly away! This is the only chance for us! So I put an arm around Kitty’s shoulder and said, “Believe me, we can fly!” Kitty doubted it, she felt too weak. I repeated softly but firm, “Believe me, we CAN fly!”. As soon as we passed the exit, we took off the ground. While we were flying higher and higher, I suddenly heard Jackie singing the title song of “The Myth”! Loud and clear with his lovely voice that I love so much! The fear was gone, we were safe and I said, “Now we can go anywhere we want and the scary monster would never find us!” We were laughing and very happy.
When I woke up, I realized that I was crying.
