Jackie Chan

v.  1.  to punch
     2.  to whop
     3.  to deliver a graceful but devastating blow to an opponent

Sound unbelievable?  Well, it could happen.  Other proper names have sneaked into our dictionaries (think of xeroxing, hoovering).

In 2003, a reporter described New York Yankees bench coach Don Zimmer as "going Jackie Chan" on pitcher Pedro Martinez during an argument.  And there are many references to "going Jackie Chan" in news reports from just about everywhere in the world.

Recently Jackie received a copy of This Old House magazine in which an article described the need for repair work after "an energetic teenager Jackie Chans the Sheetrock [the wall]."  When Jackie heard that his name was being used as a verb to mean "punch, attack, or generally go haywire" he was very amused.  "Put it on the website!" he said.  And so here it is!

Jackie holds the issue of This Old House magazine that uses his name as a verb!
