Jackie to Introduce Segway at Security Trade Show

On June 7th, Jackie will kick off a satellite session of the Asian Securitex 2006 Conference at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Center, introducing the Segway Human Transporter to security specialists from around the world.  Jackie will appear as a representative of Segway SAR, a new company he has founded with partner Matt McGuire.

Jackie has been a big fan of the Segway for several years, bringing his own around with him to film sets in China and Hong Kong. Jackie takes a keen interest in the environment, and the  Segway is both useful and energy-efficient. The Segway, which is battery operated, gets the equivalent of over 400 miles per gallon (if you figure how much oil is needed to generate the electricity to charge the battery) and can travel up to 12.5 miles per hour.

Recently Jackie has taken an interest in promoting the Segway for use by law enforcement agencies.  Right now there are over 100 police departments using Segways and making a serious impact on crime.  Officers on Segways can cover a lot more ground and can go indoors and into tight places to patrol.  Additionally, the Segway puts the officer's head a foot above a crowd, thereby making it easier to monitor large gatherings.  Police departments are finding the Segways extremely useful and Jackie would like to see the Hong Kong Police Department make use of them, particularly for controlling crowds during some of the large events which are more frequently held in Hong Kong.

The Asian Securitex 2006 Conference runs from June 7th through June 9th and attendance is limited to trade professionals.
