Jackie is Named Ambassador of Yan Tai, Shandong; Charles and Jaycee Attend Ceremony
In a ceremony at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in downtown Hong Kong, Jackie's father, Charles Chan and his son, Jaycee Chan accepted an ambassadorship on Jackie's behalf from officials of the city of Yan Tai, Shandong Province, China. Jackie's father was born in Shandong Province.
At the ceremony, Yan Tai's Mayor Zhang Jiang Ting and Vice Mayor Li Shu Qin presented several gifts from the Yan Tai people, including a replica of a famous painting depicting the Ching Ming Festival, a gold cloisonne Mainstream Sculpture, and a framed gold dragon. Charles spoke of his desire to return to Shandong someday with his entire family.
Jackie is in the States wrapping up the filming of Rush Hour 3 and therefore was unable to attend. He did, however, send a video greeting in which he thanked the Yan Tai government and expressed his regrets at having to miss the event.
