Jackie Making News in Beijing

At a special event held at Beijing Public Hall on the afternoon of April 7, 2008, Jackie donated HK$2 million to help poor children who have problems with their eyesight. Jackie said that he plans on building a children's eye center in Beijing and naming it in honor of his father, who passed away last month. Jackie and his good friend Dr. Dominic Lam, will work together to develop the project. Jackie and Dr. Lam hope to help some of the many children who are afflicted with eye problems.

At the event, which translates loosely from the Chinese as "Call Everyone to Give Love and the Children Can See the Light of the Olympics,", Jackie visited with 20 children from Ningxia whose eyesight has been cured through the efforts of the World Eye Organization, of which Jackie is an Advisory Board Chairman.

The children presented "Uncle Jackie" with a special birthday card and they performed a dance for him. When they were having trouble with their rhythm, Jackie jumped right in and helped them, then posed for photos. Several celebrities were on hand and everyone sang Sincere Hero together with Jackie.

Although Jackie had no intention of celebrating his birthday, he was pleasantly surprised with the gift of a custom made Segway PT, which was presented to him by his Segway partner Matt McGuire. The one-of-a-kind Segway is white and decorated with Dragons and Jackie's logo.

Jackie and Matt introduced the Segway PT to Olympic organizers in the hopes that the Olympic committee will use the Segways during the Beijing 2008 Olympics.
