On November 12, 2005 Jackie was honored with the Best Actor Golden Rooster Award for his work in New Police Story. The Golden Rooster is a prestigious award, on par with America's Academy Award. Jackie was thrilled and wanted to share the honor with his friends, family, and staff, so he gathered everyone together as soon as possible for a celebration! In the ballroom of a beautiful hotel on Hong Kong Island, nearly 200 people came to salute Jackie.

At the beginning of the party, Jackie met with the press briefly and then the doors to the outside closed and the room was filled with only the invited guests. Everyone spent time talking and visiting while Jackie made the rounds to chat with people at each and every table in the room. He was very relaxed and happy as he talked, joked, and took photos with all of his friends.

After Jackie was finished saying hello to everyone, he got up on a small stage to say a few words. He thanked everyone involved with the production of New Police Story and then he talked about his charity work.

He played a video from his recent visit to Xinjiang, China and spoke passionately about his dedication to helping children. He thanked everyone who had helped him and encouraged the rest to step forward and do anything and everything they could to make a difference.

When Jackie decided to make New Police Story, he knew that he was taking on a role that was unlike anything he had ever done. He was challenging himself as an actor by playing a character that was completely different from any he had ever played. For his efforts, he was awarded China's Golden Rooster for Best Actor.

Jackie told everyone that although he was honored to receive the award, he was more gratified to see a new school built or to provide children with clothes and supplies. He said that although the Golden Rooster award was the reason everyone was asked there for the evening, he was mostly happy for an excuse to bring friends and family together.
