Despite Jackie's continued and enthusiastic praise of the abilities of Rush Hour 3's director Brett Ratner, the press has picked up on a statement Jackie made in his diary and presented it as something negative. When Jackie heard about it, he immediately issued the following statement from the set of Rush Hour 3:
I was sorry to hear that my diary entry of February 27, 2007 has been used in a negative light against Brett Ratner, the director who is currently working with me on Rush Hour 3. I would never insult nor hurt the image of my "brother," Brett Ratner. After working on three films together, we have become family.I'm sorry that my diary was not transcribed correctly. What I meant to say is that while Brett doesn't have as much experience with martial arts action as I do, he is still able to make valuable contributions on every sequence. Certainly, the Rush Hour franchise wouldn't be the success it is without Brett!Jackie ChanLos Angeles, CaliforniaMarch 18, 2007
