PHOTO ESSAY: JACKIE IN CHENGDU FOR 512 EARTHQUAKE EVENT (PART ONE) WITH VIDEO
The Event (May 30, 2008)
Two days before Jackie attended the June 1 earthquake fundraising concert in Hong Kong, he flew to Chengdu in China's Sichuan province to participate in an event to support and give comfort and courage to the victims of the May 12 disaster. Over 60 performers from Mainland China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong took part in the program, which was broadcast widely throughout China. At the conclusion of the event, many of the performers traveled to earthquake stricken areas throughout the province to lend support and give thanks to the many relief workers and medical staff who have been working tirelessly to aid the victims.
While in Sichuan, Jackie visited with schoolchildren and military personnel, bringing along a troupe of martial arts performers to give some moments of relief to the weary and heartbroken people. Here are photos from Jackie's visit to Chengdu:

Rehearsing for a dramatic performance.

Singing for the victims at the concert. Jackie and the others are wearing green ribbons as a sign of support for Sichuan and black wrist bands as a sign of mourning.
Here is the video of Jackie singing Shengsi Bu Li:

A salute of gratitude to all the rescue workers.

This little girl thought she'd lost her father and had previously been comforted by President Hu Jintao. During the concert, she spoke with her father by phone for the first time since the earthquake. When she heard his voice she began to cry uncontrollably.

Jackie's Visit (May 31, 2008)
The day after the concert, Jackie visited with the people of Chengdu:

This is a school set up in a tent. Most of these children lost their homes. Many of them also lost their parents.

Jackie recieves the red bandana which signifies that he is an honored member of the school.

Jackie amuses the children while fussing with a bullhorn.

Jackie interacts with the kids and their teachers.

Jackie forms a heart with his hands to show the children that he has brought along his love and the love of millions of people who care about Sichuan.
The following photos speak for themselves:

Jackie signs the banner for the "tent school."

Jackie greets the audience.

Jackie brought along a martial arts performing team.

For this little guy, playing hide and seek under a big army truck is even more interesting than the performance.

Jackie and the team salute the men and women of the army who worked tirelessly to help the people of Sichuan.

Jackie brings supplies to Sichuan.

Jackie is very touched by this small gift.
Jackie wants to thank all his fans for their continuing support of the earthquake victims. If you would like to make a donation online, please click here.
